Prajnananda Mahathera
Prajnananda Mahathera is a renowned socially engaged Buddhist monk in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) of Bangladesh.〔https://www.facebook.com/PrajnanandaMahathero〕〔http://www.daily-sun.com/printversion/details/48971/A-monk-and-torchbearer-of-knowledge〕 He dedicated his whole life for the welfare of distressed humanity. Right from his childhood, he experienced harsh realities of life which helped him choose a monastic life. It offered him an opportunity to build his life as a student cum social worker. He built up a number of educational and socio-economic institutions to serve his society. ==Early life==
Prajnananda Mahathera was born on 1 February 1952 in a family at Babuchara Village under Dighinala Upazilla in Khagrachari District of Bangladesh. His family name is Balendra Dev Chakma. His father's name was Narendra Lal Chakma and his mother's name is Indrapati Chakma. The family has four sons and Mahathera is the youngest.
